Form 7004 Fiscal-Year Deadlines: Every Month
Quick answer
For a fiscal year, Form 7004 is due by the return's original due date, counted from the month your tax year ends. Partnerships and S corporations: the 15th day of the 3rd month. C corporations, trusts and estates: the 15th day of the 4th month.
The table below shows the next 12 year-ends, with weekends and holidays already applied.

Form 1120-S uses the same dates as Form 1065. Bankruptcy estates get 6 months instead of 5 1/2. For any other date, use the due date calculator.
The rule behind the table
- Form 1065 and Form 1120-S: due the 15th day of the 3rd month after the tax year ends; the extension is 6 months.
- Form 1120: due the 15th day of the 4th month; the extension is 6 months.
- Form 1041 (trusts and estates): due the 15th day of the 4th month; the extension is 5 1/2 months, ending on the last day of the month.
- Weekends and holidays: a date on a Saturday, Sunday or District of Columbia legal holiday moves to the next business day.
June 30 C corporations
A C corporation whose tax year ends June 30 and began before January 1, 2026 files Form 1120 by the 15th day of the 3rd month and gets 7 months. Tax year July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026: due September 15, 2026, extended to April 15, 2027. For tax years beginning in 2026, the Form 7004 extension is 6 months; check the 2026 Form 1120 instructions for the due date before relying on a table.
52-53 week years
If your tax year ends on the same weekday each year rather than the last day of a month, count from the month the year ends. When in doubt, check your return's instructions.
Fiscal years and payment
The extension never moves the date you have to pay. Pay what you owe by the original due date in the table, not the extended one. How payment works.
